Problems with Web Design & Website Design
|
|
|
In designing a website, problems described below will always be encountered. These problems should be taken into account before the design of the website or else serious problemsi may arise.
Web design can never walk alone
A corporate website is of crucial need to the image of a company. Many of the companies would spend most of their time and money in designing a decent looking graphical user interface. This is not wrong but if all the efforts and budgets are put onto the layout design only, no one would ever visit the website and the money and effort on building it are totally wasted.
In the early stages of the web, there wasn't as much collaboration between web designs and larger advertising campaigns, customer transactions, social networking, intranets and extranets as there is now. Web pages were mainly static online brochures disconnected from the larger projects.
Suitable amount of budget should be put on marketing the website. SEO and SEM are some of the very common tools in promoting the website.
Website compatibility problems
There are dozens of web browsers in the world although only a few of them (IE and Firefox) are used by the majority. Each of the web browsers will have different versions published and most of them are not 100% comply with the W3C html standard. That makes the web programmers very difficult in designing a website that runs exactly the same in different browsers with different versions.
Search engines cannot read Flash and images
Search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN have their own powerful spiders that can crawl most of the websites in the world. Google claimed that by making use of the latest technologies they can speed up the crawling pace and be able to display the search results within a few hours. Although the search engines are so powerful they are not be able to read the contents of the Adobe Flash, images and graphics. If your website is full of these elements, very probably the rankings of the your websites in different search engines will be lowered.
